Kosovo meets visa-free travel condition

The Kosovo Parliament ratified a border agreement with neighboring Montenegro on Wednesday and thereby fulfilled the condition for visa-free travel in the European Union.

Representatives of the nationalist party VV tried to prevent the vote by spreading tear gas in the hall. Five of them were arrested. VV delegates used this means more often to express their dissatisfaction. They are also strongly opposed to agreements with Serbia.

Kosovo, which officially declared independence from Serbia in 2008, is the only country in the Western Balkans that is not yet on the EU visa-free list.
