King Filip avoids opening AfricaMuseum for possible criticism

King Philip of Belgium is avoiding the reopening of the AfricaMuseum in Tervuren next Saturday.

The former Royal Museum for Central Africa was built at the end of the 19th century for the honor and glory of Leopold II, but has been thoroughly renovated over the past five years. The new museum, called AfricaMuseum, looks at that colonial past with a much more critical eye and also has more eye for the dark side of it.
