Kill in violence mining Venezuela

Almost twenty civilians were killed in fighting in the east of Venezuela between soldiers and illegal miners.

According to the authorities, it happened in a mining area that is plagued by violence. In the region, more than 800 kilometers from the capital Caracas, gold, diamonds and coltan are mined.

According to the governor of the state of Bolívar, Justo Noguera, it was illegal miners who attacked soldiers at Guasipati at a mine in the weekend. The soldiers beat off the attack. A member of the national parliament and opponent of President Nicolás Maduro said that according to survivors the victims were executed and not killed in battles.
