Kenya will burn 120 tonnes of ivory

Kenya wants the sight of actor Leonardo DiCaprio and singer Elton John to burn 120 tons of ivory.

The combustion is meant as a warning against poaching and illegal trade in the tusks. Following is an international summit for the protection of elephants.

At the Summit on 29 and 30 April, among others, actress Nicole Kidman, the former mayor of New York, Michael Bloomberg, the financial investor and philanthropist George Soros and Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen expected. Furthermore take multiple state and government participating in the summit. Western countries and China sent representatives.

Trade in ivory was banned worldwide in order to halt poaching. On the black market, however, high prices paid for ivory, particularly in Asia.
