Journalists search in Colombia

In the northeast of Colombia on Tuesday two journalists disappeared.

The Colombian journalists were in the municipality of El Tarra to report on the disappearance of Salud Hernández, who sat in the region was last seen. Hernandez worked for the Spanish El Mundo and some local newspapers.

Sources in the army and Colombian media speculate that the journalists are in the hands of Marxist rebels or criminal gangs. Three other journalists were looking for Hernandez say they were briefly detained by members of the ELN, the smaller of the two guerrilla groups in Colombia.

The government does not want to mention abductions, but President Juan Manuel Santos said on Tuesday the heads of the army and have instructed personally take charge of the police search.

The Colombian government, which since 2012 carries out peace talks with the FARC, also recently agreed to negotiations with the ELN. President Santos is, however, that the ELN first all hostages let go of the hold. However, the ELN has stepped up attacks on oil pipelines in recent months, while it also has continued to abduct people, possible to put the government under additional pressure to begin negotiations.
