Journalist scoop of the century deceased

British war correspondent who brought the first news in 1939 had broken the Second World War, is deceased in Hong Kong at 105 years of age.

Clare Hollingworth in August 1939 worked as a young journalist for the Daily Telegraph when she came upon the scoop of the century. ' During a trip to Poland from Germany they saw the huge military forces at the border and could be the first over the German invasion of Poland messages.

Hollingworth later worked as a correspondent in Vietnam, Algeria, the Middle East and China.

 

Before thousands of people she helped were Hollingworth journalist to flee from the Germans by controlling British visas.

The last forty years of her life the journalist lived in Hong Kong.
