Italy wants to disseminate migrants across the EU

Migrants coming to Europe by sea should be transferred to 'protection centers' in different EU countries on arrival, according to Italy.

At the migration meeting of sixteen EU leaders in Brussels, the Italian Prime Minister Guiseppe Conte presented a new ten-point plan. 'Whoever arrives in Italy, lands in Europe', Conte called on the solidarity and responsibility of the other countries. Each Member State should accept a fixed proportion of migrants and should feel financial when refused.

He also states that the travel of asylum seekers through Europe can be reduced by agreements between the most involved countries. France already stops many people at the border and Germany and Austria threaten to do so. Conte warned that free movement in the Schengen area, and even the entire EU, is at stake.
