Italy refuses boat with more than 600 migrants

Italy refuses to accept a boat with more than six hundred immigrants in one of its ports.

According to Italian media, the ship that is not allowed to moor in Italy is called Aquarius. Aid organizations would have taken 629 immigrants aboard the ship in several rescue operations. On board are, according to the aid organization SOS Méditerranée, at least 120 minors.

In Italy, the right-wing populist Lega and the radical Five Star movement have recently formed a government coalition. Minister of the Interior Matteo Salvini (Lega) has promised his constituents to limit immigration.
