Israeli ex-president Peres in hospital

Former Israeli President Shimon Peres on Thursday with a heart attack in hospital near Tel Aviv and operated.

An employee of Peres confirmed that the 92-year-old former prime minister and president has been hospitalized with an irregular heartbeat. He is conscious, but still chest pain. A hospital spokesman was not available for comment.

The Polish-born Peres won the Nobel Peace Prize for his role in the interim peace accords with the Palestinians in 1993. He was twice prime minister and president from 2007 to 2014.
