ISIS fighters active in Libya oil port

Militants of the Islamic State Monday in the Libyan port of Es Sider clashed with federal troops guarding these large oil storage.

Es Sider, the largest oil depot in the country, and the nearby oil port of Ras Lanuf have been closed for over a year, since all kinds of rival Libyan groups trying to seize the installations. Islamic State now mixes is strongly committed to the battle for the strategic and precious oil. Also southern oilfields have been repeatedly targeted by ISIS actions. Until now, however, is not captured single field or storage.

ISIS has since 2011 gradually conquered areas in Libya. Among others, the main city of Sirte in the hands of the extremists.
