Irish says yes to a more flexible abortion law

Ireland voted in a referendum for the liberalization of abortion.

More than 64 percent of those entitled to vote cast his or her vote. In the current situation, abortion is only permitted in Ireland if the life of the mother is at risk. In case of rape or incest, for example, termination of pregnancy is prohibited.

More than 3 million Irish people were able to vote in a plebiscite on Friday about the legalization of termination of pregnancy.
