Iraqi children undercooled in ice cold refrigerated vehicles

The German police have liberated nine starving and undercooled refugees from Iraq at the German-Dutch border at Bad Bentheim from a closed refrigerated van.

With the help of a human smuggler, the refugees were put in the truck on Wednesday in France. The agreed destination was Great Britain, but the driver drove in the direction of Ukraine. As a result of hunger, thirst, cold and the increasingly bad air in the trailer, the refugees were alarmed. Among them were two women and two children aged ten and twelve.

The truck loaded with white wine and vodka had started the journey at Reims, in the northeast of France. The truck was then driven to Lower Saxony via Belgium and the Netherlands.
