Iraqi army wins east Mosul

Iraqi commandos have completely displaced the fighters of the Islamic State from all neighborhoods in the eastern part of the city of Mosul.

Lt. Gen. Talib said Shaghati taken over control of the eastern bank of the Tigris River after a three-month offensive against IS in the northern Iraqi city. According to a statement from the army, however, is still fighting between regular troops and Islamic militants in northeastern Mosul.

'Today we celebrate the liberation of the eastern shore in Mosul,' Shaghati told reporters in the city.
