Iranian-Belgian couple remain arrested after a foiled attack

The Iranian-Belgian couple who planned an attack in the French Villepinte last Saturday at a meeting of the opposition party MEK, which was banned in Iran.

Amir S. (38) and his wife Nasimeh N. (33) were intercepted in their car on Saturday in Brussels with material that could be used to make a bomb. According to information from the security services, they were on their way to Villepinte near Paris where 25,000 people gathered at a conference of MEK (Moudjahidines du Peuple Iranien) illegally declared by the Iranian government in 1981.

Simultaneously with the arrest of the couple from Wilnis, near Antwerp, an Iranian diplomat in Germany and a suspected accomplice were arrested in France.
