Investigation started on fire that claimed 37 lives

The Philippine authorities have opened an investigation Monday into the fire in a shopping center in Davao, in the south of the country.

'The many fatalities and the damage increase the need to find out who went wrong and who is criminally responsible,' said State Secretary for Justice, Vitaliano Aguirre.

The fire broke out Saturday in the NCCC Mall. The rescue services could only recover a body, on Monday they will enter the building again. According to the Davao fire brigade, the fire may have been caused by a spark on the third floor. There were textile products, wooden furniture and plastic goods.
