Indian politicians are obliged secular

Indian politicians can no longer use their religion to win votes.

According to the President of the Court elections should be a 'secular enterprise.' India is officially a secular country, but political parties often focus on religious groups. As is known, the BJP Prime Minister Narendra Modi as Hindu nationalist party.

The court ruled that election results are invalid as politicians seek votes on the basis of religious sentiments. The ruling comes just weeks before the elections in Uttar Pradesh, the state with the largest population. Religion and caste play there traditionally a key role in the campaigns.
