IBM to predict the weather

Tech giant IBM has devised a plan to take over The Weather Company, a US meteorological company.

The aim of the acquisition is to utilize the vast amounts of data that the company owns and collects. Not only about the weather, but also about the customers. The Weather Company has various apps and services and system analyzes its use. Every day it gets 26 billion data requests from the United States alone.

According to IBM, can use this data to develop and expand his internet-of- things- platform. As an example, gives the company the ability to weather data linked to where as ordinary users are located in what types of weather, to be used by shops and suppliers to deliver products at times when there is high demand.

The TV channel The Weather Channel will continue to operate independently, but it gets a license agreement with IBM for the use of meteorological data.
