Hundreds of American soldiers left Syria

More than four hundred American soldiers leave Syria.

'Now that the city has been liberated and IS has been fleeing, the unit has been ordered to return,' the US-led coalition reports in a statement. US officials recently reported that about 2,000 US troops are in Syria. The official number is considerably lower.

US special forces support local allies in the country, such as the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). The Americans give advice and train fighters. The US troops also provide artillery support for attacks on IS. The departing marines, according to the coalition, take their artillery guns with them.
