House of Rubens for sale

The castle of Pieter Paul Rubens is for sale.

The building undergone by Rubens is already from 1304 and with 33 rooms is not exactly a 'tiny house'. Also always easy: it has a private chapel.

Rubens bought 'Het Steen' in 1631, according to De Standaard for 93,000 Carolus guilder. After he had renovated the castle, he lived there with Helena Fourment, who at the age of 16 had married the then 53-year-old artist. According to tradition, the couple was particularly happy with each other and with his children.

'Het Steen' should not be confused with the Rubens House in Antwerp, where the artist previously lived and worked and which is now a museum.
