Hotel door Bob Dylan sold for 100,000 euros

Buyers have paid tens of thousands of dollars for doors of rooms of the famous Chelsea Hotel in New York, behind which celebrities have slept.

Altogether 52 wooden doors came to the auction in New York. There were even more toppers. A buyer had 106,000 euros for the door of the room where singer Janis Joplin and singer Leonard Cohen alternately stayed. A little less but still good was the proceeds for the room doors of Andy Warhol ($ 65,000), Madonna ($ 16,500), Jackson Pollock and Bob Marley ($ 8750).

A large part of the proceeds goes to an organization that works for homeless people. The Chelsea Hotel opened in 1905 and many famous world citizens stayed there over the years. The hotel has been closed since 2011 and is being renovated.
