Hong Kong gets full low Mangkhut: waving skyscrapers

The metropolis of Hong Kong has received the full layer of Hurricane Manghkut on Sunday.

Around noon the streets were deserted and the authorities issued the heaviest typhoon warning. For the first time, casinos in the city of Macau were ordered to close. Residents of Hong Kong had already entrenched themselves in their apartments and had hoarded the day with food. Many windows were taped with tape but that did not always help.

Manghkut previously drew a trail of vandalism in the Philippines. At least 25 people lost their lives there because of landslides and floods. Many rickety houses fell prey to the strong wind.
