Hollande mobilizes ministers against Le Pen

The French presidential candidate Emmanuel Macron can count on government support during his campaign.

Hollande urged his ministers to 'fully engage in the election campaign to ensure that Le Pen gets the lowest score possible,' said the president's spokesman. Every governor received the request to 'fully mobilize'.

The major established parties in France, the conservative Les Républicains and the left-wing Party Socialist will be out in the second election round on 7 May. The candidates of the parties lost in the first round and scooped immediately behind Macron.

French President Nicolas Sarkozy also announced Wednesday to vote on the former Minister of Economic Affairs. Sarkozy emphasized on social media not to support Macron's party program, but especially to prevent Le Pen from taking place in the Élysée Palace.
