Heavy punishments in Spanish corruption process

A Spanish court has condemned the pivot of a corruption scandal around the Spanish government party PP (People's Party), Francisco Correa, to almost 52 years in prison for fraud and money laundering.

Of the 37 defendants, 29 received long prison sentences, including the second man from the fraudulent network, Pablo Crespo, a member of the PP from Galicia who received 37.5 years in prison.

According to the judges, the PP did not know exactly where the dark money of corrupt entrepreneurs came from, but was happy to profit from it, reported Spanish media. The party has to pay a fine of 245,000 euros due to this error.
