Hariri arrived in Paris

The Prime Minister of Lebanon, Saad Hariri, arrived in Paris on Saturday morning.

The head of government wants to have a meeting with the French president Emmanuel Macron this afternoon, who has invited Hariri. How long he wants to stay in France is not clear. The intention is for Hariri to travel from Paris to Beirut to formally resign.

Hariri announced unexpectedly in Saudi Arabia on November 4 that he had resigned. He did so in protest against Iran's interference with Arab affairs via the Lebanese Shiite Hezbollah movement. His step raised many questions and led to speculation that he was being held against his will.
