Handy: this makes apple slices no longer brown

Apple wedges are ideal to give to children as a healthy snack.

Eleanor Hill from Sydney is daily busy with fruit for her three children. Squeezing lemons, which normally helps against discoloration, is inconvenient and expensive, according to the woman. And even good storage containers do not stop the discolouration.

The mother then thought of the way she saves half avocados; with the wick in it and the peel of the eaten half. This handy trick gave her an idea: make the apple 'whole' again, or put the parts together. Then use a wide elastic to keep things together.

The trick can also be applied to other fruit, such as the pear.
