Group of passengers on board Diciotti may disembark

The maritime health authorities in the Italian city of Catania (Sicily) have ordered that sixteen passengers on the Italian coast guard vessel Diciotti should be immediately brought ashore.

There is a lot to do about the ship. It saved a group of about 190 migrants from the sea earlier this month. Forty of them, including the minors, have been brought ashore, but the others must remain on board by order of the government. Italy requires that other Member States of the European Union take them up.

Now it looks like that for health reasons a group of board is allowed again, while no definitive solution is in sight. The Ministry of the Interior would have agreed.
