Governor refugees back to Ramadi

After the reconquest of (large parts of) the Iraqi provincial capital Ramadi on fighters IS displaced people must return all the coming days.

Ramadi was taken in May by IS. Since then expelled from the city of 276 000 inhabitants, according to figures from the International Organisation for Migration. Most of them have migrated to the 100 km distant capital, Baghdad.

The Iraqi government reported Sunday retaking Ramadi. Those who return will wait the task to rebuild their city again. About 80 percent of the infrastructure and houses were destroyed during the fighting. Government forces in Ramadi still working booby traps and landmines IS defuse.
