Government parties Japan win elections

The Japanese government parties may hold on to their second-thirds majority in parliament after the parliamentary parliamentary elections.

An exit poll from the Japanese broadcaster NHK shows that the LDP party of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and coalition partner Komeito presumably conquer between 281 and 336 of the 465 seats. Some media estimate that the parties are just grabbing the so-called 'supermaturity' they now have.

The parties appear to be able to count on a parliamentary majority on the basis of the exit polls. A big victory would increase the chance that Abe will be re-elected next year as leader of his party.
