Google deletes Iranian YouTube channels

Google has removed 39 YouTube channels from the video site because they are linked to an Iranian state channel.

In addition to the YouTube channels, Google also put six blogs on its Blogger site and thirteen Google+ accounts on black. The propaganda campaign would run since January 2017 under the direction of the Iranian state call IRIB.

Google tracked the suspicious channels using cyber security FireEye. According to the latter company, the influencing actions were aimed at the United States, the United Kingdom, Latin America and the Middle East.

In the same message, Google says in the past that it has removed 42 YouTube channels from the so-called Internet Research Agency, a group of Russians who wanted to sow divisions in the run-up to the US presidential election.
