Girls Pakistan accept violence

More than half of all teenage girls in Pakistan believes that violence in the home is justified in some cases.

The UN investigators spoke with girls between fifteen and nineteen years. Refusing sex was, according to some of the girls is one of the reasons that justify violence by the husband. More than 30 percent of girls in this age group in Pakistan has ever had to deal with physical or sexual violence.

Low education, unemployment and a trend of violence within the family all contribute to the acceptance of domestic violence, the researchers conclude.
