Germany calls Facebook on the mat

The German Minister of Justice calls managers of Facebook on the mat.

'I demand clarification on whether German users and accounts are affected,' said the minister. Barley also wants to know what the company is going to do to prevent future abuse. Germany has around 30 million Facebook users.

The reason for the unrest are revelations about the Cambridge Analytica data company. That would have used personal information from millions of Facebook users without permission to make voter profiles in the US. Thus, the voting behavior of people could be influenced.

The conversation between Barley and top employees of Facebook should take place next week. It is still unclear on what day that will happen.
