German police solve 26 year old murder

The German police have solved a 26-year-old infanticide with the arrest of a 65-year-old man in Berlin.

The man had addressed the child and taken with him when she was playing in a park in Weimar in the state of Thuringia. Her body was found two days later under a 53 meter high bridge in the A4 near Hermsdorf where she had been thrown by the man. She had been raped just before her death.

The police never closed the file for all those years and continued to hunt for the perpetrator. At the end of last year, the research got a new impulse when a witness reported new directions. Then the snoop noses came on the trail of the truck driver. He was arrested in his home in Berlin on Sunday. He resisted in vain with an iron rod and was slightly injured.

The police are investigating whether the man was involved in other child murders.
