German ban on & # x27; smart & # x27; childrens watches

The German telecom watchdog has Friday & # x27; smart & # x27; watches that allow parents to track what their children are hanging out forbidden.

' With an app, parents can use such watches to listen to the surroundings of their child unnoticed '', for example teachers in their class. 'They have to be seen as forbidden broadcast equipment,' the chief executive of the Bundesnetzagentur said.

The timepieces have a SIM card with a limited telephone function that can be operated via an app, just like a baby monitor. The watches can be set to call a specific phone number, allowing conversations to be monitored. This is prohibited in Germany.

In February, the service forbade the sale of a speaking doll, because the software could be cracked so that personal details would be exposed.
