Gambia sells expensive cars and aircraft former leader Jammeh

Gambia sells aircraft and luxury cars from former president Yahya Jammeh.

The authoritarian leader left Rolls-Royces behind when he left the country last year. He had initially refused to resign after an election defeat, but still chose eggs for his money when other West African countries threatened to force him off. Jammeh went into exile in Equatorial Guinea.

The Gambia can use the money from the sale of the vehicles well. The new government found an almost empty state treasury. The country also suffers with high debts, which were mainly made when Jammeh was still in power. He ruled with hard hand for 22 years.
