French parliament agrees with anti-terrorist law

The French parliament has agreed with a new anti-terrorist act which gives the authorities more powers.

The law will trigger the end of the emergency situation introduced in 2015 after attacks in Paris. Certain measures that are due to emergency conditions are also in a diminished form in the special law.

Thus, it is possible to make searches with suspected potential terrorists, but the court will have to give permission. Opponents of the law fear that a kind of 'permanent state of emergency' is created.
