French government wants to extend state of emergency

The French government wants to extend the state of emergency in the country until after the parliamentary and presidential elections in the spring.

The state of emergency was imposed in November last year renewed the terrorist attacks in Paris and was already once with a half years. The measure would expire mid-January.

The presidential elections in April and May and will be followed by parliamentary elections in June. A further extension of the state of emergency would last until July 15th. The French parliament must approve the extension.

By the imposition of emergency rule, the police gets more powers.
