French composer Pierre Boulez deceased

The French composer and conductor Pierre Boulez is deceased at the age of ninety.


         In 1925 in Montbrison born Boulez is considered a pioneer of modern music of the twentieth century. He began to study mathematics but changed radically of discipline by going into the forties to the conservatory in Paris. He was taught by, among others, the composer Olivier Messiaen (1908-1992).
Boulez developed by experimenting and by making use of electronic music to a leader of the avant-garde music. He received numerous awards for his compositions.
Boulez died Tuesday in his hometown of Baden-Baden in southwest Germany.
