French-British scallop war is not over

Discussions between French and British fishermen about the fishing rights for scallops did not work out.

The delegates from both sides recently reached an agreement in principle on the hunt for the coveted delicacy off the coast of Normandy. They failed to fill in the details, including the period that can be fished on scallops. For the French, this is prohibited between 15 May and 1 October. The foreign competitors do not feel bound to this.

Travert said on Wednesday evening that the French navy is ready to intervene when French and British boats threaten again in each other's waters.
