France helps migrant ship Aquarius

Paris is looking for a 'European solution' for a ship sailing along the coast of Libya with 58 migrants picked up, the Aquarius.

The boat is run by the two aid organizations. Fréderic Penard from SOS Méditerranée said that the ship is now en route to Marseille. But France does not seem to have served that, because the country then decided last summer that Italy and Malta decided not to allow the controversial rescue ships of private aid organizations, not to let a single rescue ship berth.

The Aquarius is the last rescue ship that is still active in this part of the Mediterranean. It sails under Panamanian flag, but the maritime authorities in that Latin American country have let Sunday knowing that the registration of the ship is being scrapped.
