Fiscus Belgium screens private jets

The Belgian tax authorities are more than fed up with tax constructions with private jets.

The leaked Paradise Papers revealed that remarkably many private jets were used to withdraw euros from VAT levies.

Other cases showed how the jet was tax-exempt via an exotic post-box construction outside the tax authorities.

A poignant case, according to De Tijd, was for the Belgian taxman the Bombardier Challenger 605, from Formula 1 racer Lewis Hamilton who was registered on the Isle of Man. Other planes from Belgians soon found themselves in tax havens in Belgium and hardly taxed on them.

In the Paradise Papers constructions with the Netherlands Antilles were also found.
