First Turks abroad can already vote

Turks outside Turkey can from Monday to vote in a referendum on the power of the president.

The referendum is April 16 in Turkey. It is about the introduction of a new political system where the president gets a lot of power. In the current system, the prime minister leads the government and the president is merely a ceremonial figure. Prime Minister Erdogan was long, but had to abandon that position after more than eleven years. He's president since 2014 and will now formally in power.

Erdogan's plan is controversial and his party of Justice and Development (AK) bitter campaigning. In countries where Monday can vote, home to an estimated more than two million people with Turkish vote, the majority (1.4 million) in Germany. In the Netherlands there are about 245 000 registered Turkish voters.
