Fight against sugar not long fought

People still know hardly what to do to get within less sugar.

The thirty lumps, during a survey a few years ago, is about double what is justified. 84 percent do not know how to fight the excess sugar, concluded the Diabetes Fund.

Yet three-quarters of the population ever tried to eat less sugar and drink. People did this mainly to feel healthier and to lose weight.

A large majority, 85 percent, only sees merit in a substantial reduction in sugar products. Hanneke Dessing, director of the Diabetes Foundation, says there is still a long way to go: 'The agreements as currently made between the government and industry are so limited that it is insufficient to stimulate the development of products with less sugar. Manufacturers must take more responsibility. ''

The fund will from Wednesday campaigning with Ekoplaza. In five 'less sugar weeks' people get tips and recipes.
