Most respondents are very negative about developments; 67 percent find the crisis very damaging to the economy and nearly 80 percent of respondents do not believe that this results in successful negotiations between the central government and the region of Catalonia.

The Spanish government took over the administration of the autonomous region late last month. That was after the separatist regional government of Carles Puigdemont held an illegal referendum on October 1, and declared the Independence Cabinet on October 27th. The regional government has been fired and new regional elections will be held on 21 December.

Over 2000 Catalan companies have moved their headquarters to a place outside Catalonia as a result of the crisis.
