Fastest supercomputer in the world in the US

The United States gets the fastest supercomputer in the world.

The supercomputer was developed by IBM for the Ministry of Energy. He cost about $ 200 million. The Summit was unveiled Friday at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee. He will soon have to be used, for example, to conduct research into cancer, drug addiction and the universe. He has 250 petabytes of storage space, enough for about 50 million films.

The installation weighs more than 340 tons and the cables in it are almost 300 km long. To cool all systems, more than 15,000 liters of water per minute flow through the pipes.

The United States had lost the speed record in 2013 to China. The fastest supercomputer is now the Sunway TaihuLight, which is located in the city of Wuxi. It can perform 93 billions of calculations per second, less than half of the Summit.
