Hackers have copied frequently used apps like WhatsApp, Signal and Adobe Flash Player.

The makers have also spied on Windows PCs. Security Lookout has discovered the malicious apps. According to the company, espionage may be controlled by the intelligence service of Lebanon. It is not known who was spied on and why. The victims come from about twenty countries, including the Netherlands. It is not known how many people have become victims.

The makers have distributed messages on Facebook and in WhatsApp to attract people to their sites. There they could download apps. So it went outside the Google Play Store. The attack probably started in 2012 and probably continues.
