Failure reactor Tihange by faulty engine

Automatic shutdown of the Belgian reactor Tihange 2, near Huy in the province, is due to a failure of an electric motor.

The nuclear power plant Friday automatically switched off after a safety mechanism took effect. After investigation it appears the problem caused by a malfunction of an electric motor which is coupled to a steam turbine in the non-nuclear portion of the reactor.

Some parts of the motor must be replaced.,, A plant employs about 320. 000 technical components. It makes perfect sense that these elements may fall into failure, even outside the maintenance periods. There's nothing exceptional to '' the spokesman said.
