EU unanimous against trade talks with London

Negotiations on trade relations between the EU and the UK after the brexit can begin at the earliest end of this year.

The three main issues- civil rights, financial liquidation and the Northern Ireland-Ireland border still have uncertainty, Barnier said. Conversations about the future relationship are, according to him, much more effective when there is clarity on these topics.

British Prime Minister Theresa May and the President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker spoke Monday at a dinner that the pace should be stepped up in the coming days. 'There are two needed to accelerate,' said Barnier, who said he had been prepared there three weeks ago. 'The clock is very fast,' said the Frenchman.

May is due at an EU summit in Brussels at the end of this week, and will be told that the negotiations that it wishes for future relations have not yet begun. However, the EU is going to prepare 'internally' according to initiates.
