EU support southern Africa are not effective

Efforts by the EU to African countries south of the Sahara to help more domestic revenues do not come off the ground.

The auditors examined the aid to Cape Verde, the Central African Republic, Mali, Mauritania, Mozambique, Niger, Rwanda, Senegal and Sierra Leone. The program countries should lead to more taxes and other revenues. That is seen as essential for sustainable development, which is central to European policy.

The European Commission must include ensuring that payments are accompanied by reforms, said the court. The aid will now be 'undermined' by poor implementation and difficult conditions in the country, is the conclusion. The evaluation should be better.
