EU levies on Chinese cast iron

The European Commission imposes final import duties on cast iron from China.

The charges range from 15.5 to 38 percent and are intended to counter dumping by Chinese companies on the European market.

These include manhole cover and sewer grids. According to the committee, the market for cast iron in the EU is worth around € 700 million.

At the end of December an investigation was opened into dumping practices after complaints from European producers about China and India. It was determined that there was no question of dumping in India.
