EU chapter Israel over settlements

The European Union has asked Israel to submit plans and permits for thousands of new homes in settlements on the West Bank.

For the first time since 2002, building permits have been issued in downtown Hebron. The EU Foreign Service is also worried about messages that are being built for the first time in twenty years to a new settlement (Amihai) and another, to be prepared in East Jerusalem. This would seriously endanger the chances of a viable Palestinian state.

The EU position on the Israeli settlements has long been undermining the violation of international law and undermining the prospect of lasting peace. The EU continues to work with other international partners on a two-state solution, according to the service.
